Peripheral Neuropathy and Chronic Pain from Nerve Injury is complex and can be due to many causes, and it is unrealistic to believe that all nerve conditions can be cured.  However, even in those rare difficult cases, the optimal outcome is to lower the level of pain to that where a patient can regain the ability to function more normally.  This alone can be life changing, and give back that which has so many times been taken away by nerve conditions.  The USNC approach is that of tailored individual care for each patient—as no two are the same. We are dedicated to working with you to explore your options for a true solution.

While no one has all the answers, our team of specialists has spent decades researching accurate diagnostic and treatment options that go beyond simple pain management and look to provide real solutions. Our methods help identify the true cause of your nerve disease to tailor a treatment plan that will treat the source to eliminate the symptoms.

US Neuropathy Centers

We offer the latest, cutting edge diagnostic and treatments methods to identify the cause and to reverse this disease process.

Like many disease processes, the sooner your condition is accurately diagnosed and the root cause identified, the more likely it is that treatment will be effective and possibly the condition reversed. However, it is never too late to begin treatment and improve your quality of life.

Every patient is unique and there is not one treatment that will work for every individual. Our team has researched and implemented various treatment options and can customize a treatment plan for your unique needs.

Electrical Stimulation Therapy

Electrical signal therapy is a form of neuropathy treatment used for pain relief and to accelerate healing. It uses both low and high level electric frequencies to provide prolonged pain relief. Patients generally report the procedure as non-painful with immediate benefits. Objective studies have shown measurable improvement in motor and sensory nerves.

Custom Pharmacology

Our office can offer topical pain patches and custom topical medications for pain relief, available through our on-site pharmacy. Topical formulations are a great option for localized pain and offer many advantages. These include ease of application, less fluctuation of drug levels, efficiency at a lower dose, ability to be site-specific and avoidance of some of the risks of oral medications, such as drug-drug interactions and systemic side effects. Our on-site dispensing saves patients time and energy.

Diet, Nutrition & Supplements

In some cases, nerve pain can be worsened — or even caused — by certain vitamin deficiencies. The right combination of over the counter supplements can have a profound effect on your pain. Our office offers a variety of nutrition and supplements for nerve pain and more.

Surgical Solutions

In some cases, neuropathy symptoms and muscle weakness can be improved through a surgical release of the affected nerves. These superimposed nerve entrapments occur frequently with patients that have symptoms of neuropathic pain. The surgery opens the tight area through which the affected nerve passes, reducing pressure and increasing blood flow.

Morton’s Nerve Entrapment

Endoscopic decompression of the inter-metatarsal nerve is a surgical technique developed by Dr. Barrett in 1994 to decompress the intermetarsal nerve in a less traumatic matter.

Regenerative Medicine

We specialize in the use of amniotic tissue, the most powerful form of medicine available today to promote the regeneration of healthy tissue. Conditions treated included heel pain and arthritis of the knee and other joints.

Amniotic tissue contains growth factors, which promote cellular proliferation and new collagen formation and also minimize scar tissue formation. Amniotic Tissue also contains Amniotic Epithelial Cells and Amniotic Mesenchymal Stem Cells, which are capable of self-renewal and self-differentiation and help “kick-start” the healing process. In addition to these renewal properties, amniotic tissue can help minimize inflammation, a major source of pain during the healing and tissue repair process. Amniotic tissues are immune-privileged and rarely evoke an immune response in the human body.

IV Infusion Therapies

Infusion therapy can provide great benefit and sustained pain relief for many patients.  Infusion therapies offered include ALA (alpha lipoic acid), Ketamine, nutritional supplementation, and pulsatile insulin infusion therapy.  Please contact our office for more information about various infusion options.

Medical Marijuana Recommendations

There is more and more evidence for the positive effects of cannabinoids as effective medicine to treat many cases of chronic pain and other conditions. Medical marijuana, as a chronic pain management tool, can reduce patients’ pain and improve quality of life, with reported less side effects than those associated with the use of some pharmaceutical pain relievers. Medical Marijuana is not available is not available in all states at this time.

Heel Pain

Dr. Stephen Barrett has been recognized as a leader and pioneer in the study and treatment of Heel Pain. Heel pain may be caused by many different factors ranging from simple mechanical plantar fasciitis (fasciopathy) to complex metabolic diseases such as Reiter’s syndrome. Most heel pain is related to the plantar fascia, but many times the patient is mistakenly diagnosed, or has an additional masked pathology such as a nerve entrapment. Our advanced diagnostic modalities will pinpoint the causes and can grade the degree of tissue degeneration, when present, to ensure the most effective treatment options.
