On 7/10 I had spur removed from my right heel. The surgeon went through the tendon and it never healed correctly. Between then and march I was in so much pain I saw Dr Shock in Austin, He preformed another surgery which healed it correctly,I cannot recommend the first surgeon to anyone ,but Dr Shock and Barrett Foot and Ankle comes highly recommended by me. I am a distance runner and struggled with plantar fasciitis for two years. I tried everything - physical therapy, a steroid injection, orthotics, etc. Nothing really worked intil I completed the Ultrasound Guided Partial Plantar Fasciotomy with Growth Factor Injection. This was amazing!! I noticed diminished pain right away and I was completely pain free (no pain at all!)within three weeks of the procedure. I am running again like I used to and never wake up with those "pins and needles" when I get out of bed. The procedure is simple and non-invasive. The fact that you are walking in a shoe the next day makes this process very easy. Dr. Shock was awesome and I can't thank him enough for all that he has done. Back in 2008 I had fractured my ankle coming off of South Mountain. Needless to say I never had it looked at, when I decided to get an Xray I was past the point of having it fixed. Over the next few years I have had continued pain/discomfort, and my ankle was constantly giving out on me. I work for Barrett Foot and Ankle, and Dr. Barrett took a look at my ankle and had a solution. I had an ankle arthroscopy/excision avulsion fracture in August of 2011. I was pretty much full weightbearing 1 week postop. It was a really easy process. I want to thank Dr. Barrett for fixng my ankle. He truely fixed my pain issues. Barrett Foot and Ankle, I had bunion/foot reconstructive surgery on my left foot on May 26th, 2011. Dr. Barrett himself performed the surgery and did an excellent job. The morning of my surgery they called and let me know the time frame for the surgery, and I only waited a short time before I was called back to start prepping for my surgery. The pre-op area was very nice and comfortable. They let my husband be with me all the way until I walked into the operating room. They carefully looked over everything and discussed everything with my husband and me before the surgery. I was treated wonderfully after the 2 ½ hour surgery and was wheeled out to our van. The anesthetic was the perfect amount and I was awake the rest of the day, with minimal amount of pain. Dr. Barrett prescribed a very calm pain medicine in which I only needed to take a total of 8 during the course of the next 3 days. The medicine was calm on my stomach, but just gave me a little bit of ringing of the ears. They were all patient with me with my hearing loss and lightheadedness when I was getting my stitches out and seeing my foot for the first time corrected! They also gave me such encouraging words each time I was their and were proud of how I was doing. They made me feel so good, relieved and proud of my accomplishment as well. Those words helped with the healing as well, it made the time go faster and the surgery worth it. Prior to the surgery Dr. Barrett had ordered an ice/heat compressor that was delivered to my home. That helped so much, and prevented blood clots. As stated earlier for as much as I had done to my foot I had hardly any pain or discomfort. Throughout the recovery the doctors at Barrett, Foot and Ankle were right on target with what I could expect to do next in the following weeks and gave me a perfect timeline in which to set my goals. After 3 months I was able to go to physical therapy. I chose to go to the one Dr. Woolley recommended of Physiotherapy on the West side of town where I live. They were awesome and got me walking on my own after 4 weeks of therapy 3 times a week. I chose Dr. Barrett and the Barrett Foot and Ankle because I liked what they were going to all do for my foot. Now I have a whole new foot and love it! I am planning on having the other one done too!!! Thank you Dr. Barrett and the Barrett Foot and Ankle Center. Thank you so much for diagnosing what was wrong with my foot and taking care of it. For over a year I was not able to wear anything but flip flops, now I can wear regular shoes and my boots. My foot feels great after you fixed the Achilles tendon and rerouted the trapped nerve. Also Dr. Wooley and your staff were very friendly and helpful. UPDATE: Dr. Barrett, I am writing this to let you know how great my heel is doing since surgery that you did almost a year ago for a trapped nerve & my Achilles tendon. I can now go to the track & do 3 miles every morning completely pain free, also I can dig out in the garden without any problem. It feels so good to be able to do this again as before I had the surgery done I could hardly put weight on my heel without pain. I would recommend this surgery to anyone who has the same problem. The other day I got the pleasure in meeting a man who gave me hope! The next day I got the pleasure to read a story and again gave me hope! I have not been givin hope in over 4 years.
