Gentle, Personal Compassionate Care
Specializing in Minimally Invasive and Endoscopic Foot and Ankle Surgery
Not only do we practice “state of the art” we invented it!
Dr. Stephen Barrett, founder and director of the Barrett Foot & Ankle Centers invented the first endoscopic foot surgical procedure in 1990 and has been “inventing” ever since. He has trained more than 5000 surgeons throughout the world in his techniques. Every Barrett Foot & Ankle Center has well trained surgeons who have been personally trained by him, and follow the same protocol and minimally invasive techniques which usually allow faster return to regular activity with less pain.

Heel Pain (Plantar Fasciitis)
Heel pain can be complex and caused by multiple factors other than just a problem with the plantar fascia. Sadly, many patients receive a routine “cookie cutter” approach for treatment when in fact they may have something else like a nerve entrapment causing their heel pain. Or sometimes they have undergone months of failed treatments including cortisone injections, orthotic devices, and night splints! We developed a staging and grading method (the first) for conditions of the plantar fascia which not only allows for an accurate diagnosis, but allows us to really focus in on matching a specific treatment for your condition--like our minimally invasive ultrasound guided growth factor tissue regeneration procedure. Accurate diagnosis followed by appropriately matched treatment equals faster return to living without pain! Visit our website: www.your-feet.com to take the MEHPS (multiple etiology heel pain) questionairre to get an idea of what is causing your heel pain.
Morton’s Neuroma (Entrapment)
Burning, numbness, and cramping of the toes are frequent symptoms of this condition. This condition is simply a peripheral nerve entrapment, and Dr. Barrett invented the EDIN (endoscopic decompression for intermetatarsal nerve) technique to treat it as such. Treating a nerve entrapment with destructive procedures such as alcohol, cortisone, or sclerosing injections, or even cutting it out, in our opinion, is misguided and frequently leads to failed outcomes and continued pain for the patient. Don’t worry, we also developed a minimally invasive procedure to address those patients who have had unsuccessful neuroma surgery. Both surgical techniques usually allow immediate weight bearing and return to regular shoes the next day.
Bunions (Hallux Valgus)
Our surgeons focus on the level of the deformity and whenever possible use minimally invasive, endoscopically assisted technique in the reconstruction of this unsightly and painful deformity.
We also specialize in:
- Peripheral Nerve Decompression for patients with Diabetic and other Neuropathies using the new endoscopic tarsal tunnel surgery ETTD
- Reconstruction of previously failed foot surgery
- Denervation procedures for patients with chronic pain due to nerve injury
- Ankle joint arthroscopy
- Pediatric Flatfoot Reconstruction
